Wanted: Volunteers to work in our Sorting Room

We are looking for someone to work in our sorting room during the day.  This is a very important job because we rely on the sales from our store to support our food pantry and to pay the bills so we can keep helping people.  The person needs to be able to lift bags of clothes and/or linens onto a table and sort through and inspect them, hang them, on a rolling rack and take it out to the cashier to put in the store.  They also sort shoes and books and place them in the store for sale.  The volunteer may be asked to measure, fold, and wrap and price material. Wash and dry clothing items in our washer/dryer. If you are interested in volunteering for this worthy cause, we would like to hear from you. We need volunteers Monday through Saturday (you would need to volunteer during the week to get trained first and then could volunteer on Saturdays).  We ask that you are at least willing to put in a 4 hour span of time or more at least one day a week. Please stop in the center and complete an application and speak to James Symmes the site supervisor.  If you want to stop in on Saturday, you can speak to me, Faith Rockwood, the Board President.

Volunteer Intake Workers Needed for Our Food Pantry

We are looking for one or two intake workers who have clerical experience to work at our intake desk in the food pantry. This person would assist clients with their application, process the information gathered and determine if they meet the financial guidelines to get food assistance.  The volunteer(s) needs to be able to do one day a week on a regular basis from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  Some days are busier than others. We need coverage for Tuesday and Wednesday. So it could be two volunteers with a day each or one volunteer who wants to do two days. Please contact Barbara Alfange at the center (you can call 413-863-9549) on Tuesday, Wednesday or Friday between those hours. This would make a nice volunteer position for a retired teacher, officer worker, or anyone who has the ability to do the above mentioned items.  Please consider donating you time to this very enriching program.  We look forward to hearing from you!
